ABOUT RHYN

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Wai Yin is a pole and contemporary performer with an eclectic movement background. Since he started pole dancing in Los Angeles in 2013, he has received various awards in international pole competitions and has been invited globally to share his practice, including Japan, Korea, Israel, Singapore, Taiwan, and Australia. Upon returning to Hong Kong in 2016, he continued to perform and choreograph in different circus, dance and film productions. Wai Yin continued to develop his artistry in contemporary dance in addition to pole. He became a member of Beyond Dance Theater between 2021-2024, where he participated in many of the company’s productions.

His recent performances includes, “Re:Four Seasons” by Kelvin Mak, “Black Spots” by Poon Chun Ho (Beyond Dance Theater), “Cooperative Fantasies” by Chu Chin Ching (Unlock Dancing Plaza), “Holy Spring” by Feng Jingyi (Eaton Movement Festival 2022), "This Variation” by Tino Sehgal (Tai Kwun).

Wai Yin received his B.Sc. in marine biology at UCLA and later obtained a PhD in marine ecology from The University of Hong Kong.

 
 
 

HIS TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Rhyn's teaching style is inspired by his deep appreciation for simplicity and exploration. He guides his students in exploring the beauty in expression and experimentation, empowering them to craft their own unique narratives through the captivating art of pole and dance.

Whether he is sharing on the stage or in the studio, Rhyn's unwavering passion for dance and movement shines through, inspiring his students to push the boundaries of their own creativity and discover the inherent grace and power within themselves. Through his classes, Rhyn invites all who are captivated movement and body to embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery and artistic expression.
